Introducing Our Presidents
It is the women of Pi Beta Phi who make our Fraternity the quality organization it is. This is especially true in the Phoenix Alumnae Club, where we have elected the best of our best to act as our chapter presidents.

Kim OBrien, co-president, 2007-2009; president 2005-2007
Kim OBrien pledged Pi Phi as a junior at Miami of Ohio. She was initiated in 1980. After college, she moved back home to teach elementary school in a suburb north of Atlanta. A few short moves (and marriages) later, Kim moved out west to Arizona in 1998. Kim volunteered in the Scottsdale Unified School District as a reading specialist. She became a member of the Phoenix Alumnae Club in 2001 and took on the role of AZ Beta liaison, then VP of programs for two years. Kim is also house corp chair for the AZ Beta chapter at Arizona State University (ASU). She won Advisor of the Year through Panhellenic at ASU in 2006. Kim’s parents recently relocated to Scottsdale, which keeps her busy along with her Pi Phi commitments. She loves volunteering, including her work with Pets on Wheels, in which she and Ginger, the Pi Phi mascot, visit nursing homes. Kim is eagerly looking forward to Convention next summer.

Gina Garrison Jones-Whiteside, co-president 2007-2009
Gina Garrison was initiated into Pi Beta Phi at the University of Nebraska in 1974.  While a NE Beta she was active in both University and Fraternity affairs and held the offices of house manager (2x) and president, and under her leadership the chapter received the Philadelphia Bowl Award for 3rd best chapter.  In 1977, she was the recipient of the Mildred Holland Cline Pi Beta Phi Award from the University of Nebraska Foundation, and was a Province nominee for the Amy Burnham Onken Award.

Gina majored in Journalism/Advertising and since graduation has held positions in a variety of mediums including radio, television, newspaper, direct mail and magazine.  Though the ad business she worked with many retailers and through those connections she eventually landed in the shopping center industry where she held positions in marketing and management.  She now has her own company, Jonesmedia, which allows her to combine all of her industry experience for the most engaging business project of her career.

Gina moved to Phoenix from Colorado in 1996 and just recently became re-involved in Pi Phi when she joined the Phoenix Alumnae Club in 2004.  She has served for three years as vice president of membership and was honored as “Angel of the Year” in 2007 by the Phoenix Alumnae Club.

Lisa Rede Román, president, 2003-2005
Lisa Rede Román was initiated as a New Mexico Beta at New Mexico State University, where she majored in Business Administration with an emphasis in organizational development and theory. While a NM Beta, Lisa held the office of treasurer and later was on standards board her senior year. After graduating, Lisa relocated to the Phoenix area for a year, then moved to Northern California as a result of a career opportunity. Lisa has worked in the human resources field within the high-tech industry in both employee relations and college recruitment. Lisa and her husband, Carlos, relocated to Paradise Valley in 2002. Shortly after, Lisa began working at Arizona State University. When their son Ryan was born, Lisa traded in her career as a college relations manager for a dual role as a stay-at-home mom and new role as director of logistics, in which she has begun to manage investment properties.

Lisa was honored as “Angel of the Year” for 2005 by the Phoenix Alumnae Club. She has stayed involved in Pi Phi, including membership in the Palo Alto, California Alumnae Club as well as the Phoenix Alumnae Club. With each club, Lisa has been involved in various aspects, including: treasurer, VP membership, AAC (Stanford chapter), Panhellenic delegate, Wiggles & Giggles Moms Group chair, Alumnae Club president, and currently the Region 6 Alumnae Membership Specialist. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys running, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Donna Draper, president, 2001-2003
Donna was initiated into Pi Beta Phi at the University of Washington. She then affiliated with the University of Oregon Pi Phis for her sophomore and junior years. She returned to the University of Washington for her senior year and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. A planned career in fashion merchandising was put on hold as she and her husband moved to Reno, Nevada, for his advertising career. In Reno, Donna was given the opportunity to host her own two-hour radio show, where she interviewed guests from all walks of life — from the Osmond Brothers to Pat Nixon. She continued her career in broadcasting and later worked in sales and hosted a television show. She was elected president of the Phoenix chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. After leaving broadcasting, Donna worked in sales for PacifiCare for 12 years.

Donna has been honored to serve Pi Phi in many areas, including AAC chairman, Phoenix Panhellenic president, Phoenix Alumnae Club president, Alumnae Province President, Founders’ Day co-chairman and corresponding secretary. She was honored as “Angel of the Year” by the Phoenix Alumnae Club in 2003.
